At the Cowgirl Camryn Corral, we hope to equip every critter and kiddo with the skills to manage their emotions and embrace their unique selves, no matter what life throws at them. Whether it’s Alpie the alpaca with his funky fleece or Lola the donkey learning to use her voice, everyone learns to stand tall and proud!
Today, we’re talking about something tough but important—bullying. Just like we nurture seeds in the garden, we need to help our little ones grow strong and confident, especially when faced with harsh words or actions. Let’s saddle up and explore some ways to help your young ones build their self-confidence and resilience, even when the going gets tough!
Bullying can take many forms— name-calling, teasing, or even leaving someone out of the fun. We believe in facing these challenges with kindness, courage, and a whole lot of heart. Here’s how you can help your Barnyard Besties:
Just like every horse needs a good brushing, every kid needs a chance to share their feelings. Create a safe space for them to talk about their experiences without fear or judgment. Ask gentle questions like, “Can you tell me what happened?” and listen carefully.
When they share, reflect back what you hear: “Sounds like what was said really hurt your feelings. It’s okay to feel sad or angry about that. I’m here, and we can figure out what to do together. How about a big hug or a little quiet time?”
At the farm, when there’s a broken fence, we don’t just sit and wait—we fix it! Encourage your young ones to think of ways to handle tough situations. It could be asking a teacher for help, using their words to stand up for themselves, or simply walking away. Just like fixing a fence, it builds resilience and confidence, showing them they have the power to shape their world!
Here at Cowgirl Camryn’s, we love planting seeds—both in the soil and in our hearts! Help your little ones develop a positive self-image with agffirmations like, “I’m confident in my ability to make good decisions” or “I spread seeds of love, joy, patience, and kindness.” Stories, songs, and activities that reinforce these agffirmations can be great tools to counteract the effects of bullying.
Nothing beats the support of a good herd! Encourage your kids to make friends who appreciate them just the way they are—like Cowgirl Camryn’s herd– Lola, Alpie and Encore– who stick together through thick and thin. Having supportive friends can make all the difference when facing challenges.
